Let's start the game of skincare with this post.

The very basic in skincare is to find your type of skin. It is really important to know your skin and it's concerns. Once you know your skin, it will be more than easy. There are different kinds of skin. It various from person to person, but the basic categories are,
Normal skin
Oily skin
Dry skin
Combination skin
Sensitive skin
Ageing skin

You can see many different brands and companies catering products to these skin types. Let us find what your skin type is from the following factors I have listed.

Normal Skin

Normal skin is the least problematic skin type. It has good blood circulation. Balanced amount of fluids. You are lucky, if you have normal skin.

  • Your skin doesn't feel oily or greasy.
  • It does not feel dry.
  • Your pores are not visible.
  • You have even skin tone.
Oily skin

Oily skin produces oil or sebum more than necessary leaving the skin oily. It occurs most commonly during puberty when hormones are changing.
  • You find your skin turning oily or greasy within sometime after you wash your face.
  • Your skin looks shiny most of the time.
  • You have enlarged pores.
  • You buy blotting papers regularly.
Dry skin

Dry skin is caused because the skin does not produce needed amount of oil or sebum leaving skin dry and flakey.
  • Your skin feels tight after washing.
  • Your skin is often flakey.
  • You have invisible pores.
  • Your skin has less elasticity.
Combination skin

Combination skin is, when the skin in the "T" zone area produces more oil or sebum than rest of the face.
  • Your face gets oily or greasy in the "T" zone (forehead, nose and chin).
  • The rest of your skin feels dry.
  • You have enlarged pores.
Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin is somethings caused due to various factors. It can be because of eczema, rosacea or allergies.
  • Your skin can get irritated easily.
  • You get reactions from new products most of the time.
  • You are not new to redness in your face.
Ageing skin

Ageing is something that stars as soon as we are born. The skin shows visible ageing after we turn 20. As skin ages the collagen and elastin in the skin decreases which reduces skin's elasticity. The age at which skin shows visible ageing differs from person to person. It depends on the person's diet, gene, environment, etc.
  • If you are in your late 20's you have ageing skin.

Now that you have the clues to find your skin type. Observe your skin for the next few days of the week to find your skin type. I will meet you in my next post with the next step in skin care
